The Prince of Wales plans to participate in the COP30 climate summit in Brazil next month, as confirmed by royal officials.

Prince William and King Charles appeared together on Thursday night at a gathering leading up to the climate summit, which is scheduled to take place in the Amazonian city of Belem.

The royal pair were in attendance at the museum gathering, marking an unusual joint appearance at a pre-COP30 gathering organized in partnership with the UK government.

Environmental Advocacy Dedication

The King has been a longstanding advocate of biodiversity preservation - and Prince William has assumed the responsibility, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be taking place in South America preceding the COP summit.

Palace insiders have portrayed the Prince's participation at the upcoming climate summit as taking on an important role in "global climate discussions".

Previous Activities

The monarch and his heir, making a joint entrance in the royal vehicle, were introduced to attendees such as environmentalists, researchers, climate change campaigners, foreign representatives and government officials.

This involvement included speaking together with French leader Macron of the French Republic and other world leaders at the Ocean Finance Summit in the Principality of Monaco in recent months.

The UN meeting will coincide with the the royal's climate innovation prizes, which will finish in Rio de Janeiro the previous day he attends the COP summit on the sixth of November.

Last week the prince referred to the prize competitors as "heroes of our time".

Royal Climate Legacy

The monarch has been a prominent presence at earlier environmental conferences, giving the opening address in Dubai for COP28, including the observation: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".

"Throughout my life I've dedicated a large proportion of my life trying to alert people to the critical dangers challenging our world over global warming, environmental shifts and biodiversity loss," the sovereign addressed delegates.
